About Gypsy Mediterranean Arabic Balkan Dilos Musicians of Atlanta

Mediterranean music is multicultural, spanning all the countries and cultures which surround the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Black Seas. If there is a certain link between all of them, it must exist in Gypsy music which has absorbed and carries the most beautiful modalities from each. Consequently the Taqsims, (a free-form melodic improvisation, performed by solo voice or instrument which serves to establish the mood of the music) encountered in Gypsy music present Greek, Macedonian, Turkish, North African, and Spanish seasonings --- all sprinkled over a base of Rajastani and Indian, which is where eastern music originated.

This is a forum to bring together all musicians who share a love for these forms of incredible heart-opening music, to create together, develop, sometimes perform and to play taqsims until the sun comes up.
