I've lived in the general area my whole life but just got a new job as an audio engineer and will be moving to Tempe soon. Looking to meet some cool new people with shared interests and do interesting things rather than just typical sitting around.
http://www.bandmix.com/the-figureheads/ Well I didn't technically create this with Ableton because I was using Pro Tools at the time but I have some sketches in the works with Ableton - but I've made the switch recently!
I watched some tutorial videos on lynda.com that were pretty decent. Also somewhere I found a third-party software title called "Bome's Midi Translator" that has made it possible to do some really cool stuff in Ableton with footpedals.
To share tips and tricks and maybe even find some compositional collaborators.

Hey Mike! Fancy meeting you here!
Hey Mike, welcome to the group!
Mike,
Your math experience is a must for almost any electronics work! I mean, for example, the DSP work. My the 1st electronics assignment in my career was to develop the AFE for the dial-up modem and to make Trellis for the eye diagram.
I working on now on a setup to measure temperature by contact less way. For instance, temperature of internal walls of a chemical reactor. A lot of math is involved. What are your project or a project idea?
Regards,
Alex
